Bureaucracy was their battlefield. Bob pursued the investigation into the recliner bombing via the New York Police Department, only to discover that the case folder had been "misfiled." He caused certain people to be arrested only to have them released again through a "paperwork error." Almost all of the reports provided by the "eager to cooperate" Catholic Church came back to him with pages damaged or missing.
Bob's most useful tool turned out to be his own forged document, which he sought out on countless mail servers. After being frustrated by anonymous e-mail addresses, and after losing track of people who appeared to have been tipped off, Bob still managed to amass a considerable list of useable names and addresses. He also found another document in those mail servers, another journal of St. Catherine, this time written by Dahlia Sinkey. But having just penned a fake, he could smell another.
